Ivy had great success at her fourth agility trail in September, she had great runs and was able to get a Q in starters jumpers. Not only does this mean that Ivy is half way to moving up to advanced she is over halfway completed her starters gamers title. We are very proud of Ivy and look forward to more agility success in the future.
Piper has had a little break from competitions this past month simply because we have been focusing on training however in October Piper will be attending two pointing tests. Piper will doing two tests for her Field Dog Junior (FDJ) title with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC). I am 100% sure that Piper is able to do this test because it is only field and no swimming is required, based on Piper's past two N.A.V.H.D.A tests she is a machine in the field. The only thing I am concerned about with the up coming tests is that I have never done it before and I am might mess something else in during the test. However as long as I don't mess up when handling Piper she should do great. Good luck Piper! See Piper playing in the yard this past month during her break:
Ace joined us all the way from France back in mid-August and unfortunately he broke his leg while on his flight. Ace had to wear his cast for three whole weeks once he arrived here, which for a three month old puppy is a very long time, however at the beginning of September Ace's cast came off. Below see what Ace's leg looked like right when it came off:
As you can see the vet wanted Ace's leg to heal straight....and it did...very straight and stiff. When the cast first came off it was very straight, had very little flexibility and Ace had sum muscle atrophy from not using it for three weeks. We have had to encourage Ace to use and exercise his leg a lot this past month to improve his leg's strength and mobility. Through some hard work and encouragement we have had great success with Ace he now has lots of strength and so much mobility that he never stops moving. Below see how Ace looks now:
Ace is so much better that he was able to start foundation agility classes this past month; where he gets introduced to different agility obstacles and exercises. Ace has had one class so far this month and loved it he as already been introduced to the tunnel with great success. Keep up the good work Ace!
