Raven's First Pointing Trial

This past weekend at only six months old Raven attended her first pointing trial, she was entered for her first two legs of her FDJ (Field Dog Junior) title. We are please to announce that Raven completed both tests with flying colours. In her first test she not only passed the test she was rewarded best pointing dog. On the second day she passed her test again and was rewarded best pointing dog again. This is a great accomplishment for Raven to complete two legs of her FDJ title at only six months of age, only one more leg to go for the title.

Happy Birthday Ace

Today Ace turns 3 years old, Ace came to us all the way from France and he is a wonderful and beautiful dog. In the past three years Ace has received a champion show title, a prize I with NAVHDA and sired one litter of six puppies. In the coming years we are looking for even more titles and girlfriends.  Ace is also our wonderful companion he loves to sleep on the couch, running in the yard and snuggling.

Nine Weeks Old

Nine weeks old and the puppies have had a very busy week with their first trip to the vet and their temperaments were evaluated. The puppies went to the vet for their first set of shots and microchipping. Although the vet was not their favorite outing the visit went well and all the puppies have a clean bill of health and are now chipped. The puppies also had their hunting drive evaluated with exposure to a bird wing; all the puppies thought that was a lot of fun.

Eight Weeks Old

Already eight weeks and the puppies are moving on to a different phase in their development. They are now learning social skills with one another as well as with other dogs. The adult dogs are teaching the puppies through play and gentle correction. Below see the puppies playing in the yard with their mom Piper and their uncle Moby.

Seven Weeks Old

The puppies are seven weeks old now they love being outside, playing and eating lots of food. They pups have learned to joys of being outside and think they should be out everyday all day long. It is great getting them out because they run around and burn off lots of energy. I wonder how much they are going want to be out there once they discover rain.

Happy Birthday Piper

Today Piper turns 4 years old, in the past four years Piper has accomplished a champion show title, a hunting title and welcomed six puppies. Piper has also been a wonderful companion to our family and we cannot imagine our life without her. We are looking for many more wonderful and successful years with Piper.

Six Weeks Old

It seems like spring has finally arrived after a long and cold winter the weather is finally starting to warm up. The puppies are growing up fast and are itching for more space to run and play so with the weather finally getting warmer the puppies can finally get outside.  The puppies had their first trip outside today and they seem to like outdoors.

Five Weeks Old

The puppies are already five weeks old and growing up fast.  They are a lot bigger now and moving around a lot; they don't really want to stand still for the camera but we are doing our best to take their picture. Below you can see the puppies playing in their pen.

Four Weeks Old

The puppies are already 4 weeks old and they are starting to eat solid food and walk. Piper is feeding them some still but she is happy that they puppies are become more independent. The puppies are also walking around a lot which means they are trying to escape from the whelping box.  Thus the pups have been upgraded into a much bigger pen where they can move around a lot more easily and most importantly not escape.

Three Weeks Old

The puppies are growing up so quickly not only do they have their eyes fully open they are also trying to get up and walk. The puppies are able to move around pretty well; it will not be long until the puppies start running all over the place. We are very pleased with how well all the puppies are growing.

Piper Is Top Show Braque Francais

Last year due to personal reasons we did not have a very active year competing in dog competitions however much to my surprise and delight we still had some great success. Piper is the top show dog for the Braque Francais in 2017 for the UKC (United Kennel Club) and the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club).  Piper got a second in group placement at the UKC show and a best in breed placement at the CKC show. We are very pleased with Pipers success, congratulations Piper!

One Week Old

The puppies are now one week old and what a busy first week they have had. All the puppies have been eating and growing at a steady rate and they have already had their first visit to the vet. At the vet the puppies had their tails docked and their dew claws removed. Since the Braque Francais type Pyrenees are working hunting dogs it is a good idea to dock their tails and remove their dew claws so that they do not break them in the field. The puppies are also growing fast all of them have gained at least a half a pound.

Happy Birthday to Piper and Ace's new babies. Piper has given birth to wonderful new puppies a couple days earlier than expected. We have welcomed into the world 6 new puppies, 2 males and 4 females today. Mother and puppies are doing well below you can see the happy new arrivals.

Last month Ace and Piper had a mating, we have been anxiously awaiting to find out if Piper is pregnant with puppies.  Today Piper went to get an ultrasound to confirm whether she is pregnant or not.

Bring on 2018

It has been a while since the last post as things have been very quiet here for the dogs lately however in the New Year we are hoping to get the dogs more active. Ivy is retired from breeding and is going to do what she loves most in this world; agility and hunting. Piper is now at prim age for breeding and Ace has past all of his heath test to be a stud dog. We are hoping for a fun filled dog year with puppies and competitions.
