We have a new look for our news feed!!!! Welcome to the new look for our news feed at Safron Kennels, you can now follow us, leave comments for us and check out older posts.  Following us will make it easier for all our readers to keep up with the latest that is happening at Safron Kennels.  You can see below that Ivy and Piper are happy with the changes.

July did not go as planned at Safron Kennels because both Piper and Ivy went into heat at the same time. This meant that we had to cancel all our competition plans and wait for the girls to finish their heats because they cannot run if they are in season.  However we have still continued with agility training and hunting training on our own, below you can see that Ivy and Piper don't seem upset that the plans were changed:

Piper went into heat first which is great because next month she will be doing her natural abilities test with the N.A.V.H.D.A., thus she will not be heat the day of the test making things easier. This will be Piper's second time being evaluated by N.A.V.H.D.A the first time she received top scores in pointing and tracking but didn't pass the water test.  We decided to attempt the test again with Piper to try to improve her scores.  Piper did not take to the water easily however with a lot of constancy, training and encouragement the last time we went to the water she was not only swimming she was retrieving the bumper!  We are going to continue with Piper's water and hunting training until the test in mid-August we are confident that Piper will do well.  Pipers test is in Ottawa, please contact us if you would like to come see Piper do her test, I will send you the detail. See how Ivy and Pipers training is doing below.

Ivy went into heat about a week after Piper, three weeks early, which sucks because she was entered in an agility competition at the end of the July.  Unfortunately we had to pull her because the rules are that she cannot run if she is in heat, oh the risks of breeding, why do the dogs always go into heat at the most inconvenient time?  Anyways even though we are a little disappointed that Ivy could not compete in July we have more plans for her to compete in August and hopefully the fall before it gets too cold. Since everything had to be cancelled the girls spent their free time playing with birds in the yard.
