The puppies have arrived! Ivy gave birth to her puppies on Saturday May 3 right on schedule in the middle of the day. The birth went very well and was very fast with no complications, there are a total of 8 puppies, 2 boys and 6 girls all of which are eating well and gaining weight. Ivy is being a very good and attentive mother feeding and cleaning her puppies on a regular biases. Braque Francais puppies are born white with brown patches and then get their brown flecking as they get older, below are some pictures of the puppies moments after they were born.
This is puppy number 1, a male, and the biggest in the litter he loves to eat a lot and has already almost doubled his birth weight.
This is puppy number 2, a male, and one of the smallest in the litter so far and is one of the most calm and easy going puppies in the litter.
This is puppy number 3, a female, who is about average size and has been gaining weight steadily since birth.
This is puppy number 4, a female, who is also about average size she is unique because she has almost no patches on her back.
This is puppy number 5, a female, who is the smallest of the females but she does have some spunk in her and doesn't miss out on dinner time.
This is puppy number 6, a female, who is one of the larger females and loves to eat.
This is puppy number 7, a female, who is also about average size she eats very well and tends not to make a lot of noise so far.
This is puppy number 8, a female, who is the largest of the females and the second largest in the litter she as also almost already doubled her birth weight.
The puppies have spent all of their time eating a sleeping, they love to cuddle with each other, Ivy and in the blankets to keep warm. They have also been very active sleepers by twitching, yelping and grunting in their sleep.
The puppies have already had their first adventure to the vet yesterday everyone went to the vet to get their tails docked and their dew claws removed. The appointment went well and everyone got a clean bill of health however the appointment took about 2 hours so by the end of the puppies where very hungry. They all ate for quite a long time.
