The puppies are now three weeks old, all of the puppies are doing well and are very healthy. Last week we noticed that Ivy was getting very tired and feeling drained from feeding the puppies every two or three hours. So we decided to start weaning and supplementing the puppies with some solid food...well gruel. The gruel is puppy food soaked in water, mashed up with sum added puppy supplement from the pet store. The puppies have taken to the gruel with a voracious appetite, all the puppies love to eat gruel and even though it is a mess process it is fun to watch them eat, check out "The Feast" below:

The puppies are also walking and playing with each other now they are loving pouncing and getting each other everyday. Check out the movie I like to call "Get Them" below of the puppies playing with one another:

Even though the puppies love to eat their gruel they are not fully weaned Ivy still feeds them everyday just not as often. Ivy likes that she can take a rest from feeding them and doesn't have to feed them all the time. With the gruel and Ivy's milk the puppies have grown a lot this past week, below you can take a look at what the puppies look like now.

Below is puppy number 1, a male, who is getting really big he loves to eat, he bounces up and down with joy after every meal. He also loves to snuggle and cuddle with people and is getting darker everyday.

That is right everyone can now see, this has opened a whole new world for the puppies they recognize Ivy and are starting to know Me and my husband. The puppies are now one week old and are going fast, all of the puppies have at least doubled their birth weight and size. Other than eating all the puppies do at this point is sleep but they are getting bigger every day and are very healthy puppies. Ivy is a great mom she feeds them on a regular bases and checks on them often. The puppies are eating so much that Ivy is eating a lot more food up to or more than 5 cups a day, which is 1.5 times the amount she used to eat before she had puppies. Below is a movie of what I like to call the "Feeding Frenzy" of the puppies eating one of their many meals.

All this eating has caused the puppies to grow like weeds, below you can take a look at what the puppies look like now.

Below is puppy number 1, a male, who already has some dark flecking appearing an indication that he will be very dark when he is older.

Below is puppy number 2, a male, he is not only the smallest in the litter but he is also the lightest puppy with no flecking appearing so far.

Below is puppy number 3, a female, who has doubled her birth weight and she is one of the larger puppies in the litter, is starting to get a little bit of flecking on her.

The puppies have arrived! Ivy gave birth to her puppies on Saturday May 3 right on schedule in the middle of the day. The birth went very well and was very fast with no complications, there are a total of 8 puppies, 2 boys and 6 girls all of which are eating well and gaining weight. Ivy is being a very good and attentive mother feeding and cleaning her puppies on a regular biases. Braque Francais puppies are born white with brown patches and then get their brown flecking as they get older, below are some pictures of the puppies moments after they were born.

This is puppy number 1, a male, and the biggest in the litter he loves to eat a lot and has already almost doubled his birth weight.
