The Past Year

Last year flew by so fast that I cannot believe it is almost spring, however with the current weather outside it looks like winter is here to stay a little bit longer than it should. The winter has been very quite for the dogs however in all the dogs have had a very busy year with agility, hunting and show competitions for all the dogs. I am often asked what the Braque Francais type Pyrenees does in the house when they are not hunting or busy with other activities. The answer is most of the time they sleep preferably on a couch or if you are Ace on your back on top of everyone else.

It is no surprise to our followers that last year Ivy had a successful litter of 5 female puppies, I have been asked by many people it Ivy will be having more puppies in the future. We have decided that Ivy will be retiring from breeding since she will be turning 6 years old next month however this does not mean that Ivy will get to retire from life. Ivy's new focus will be on performance including agility and hunting, her favorite things in the whole world to do. With children in the past retirement looks great for Ivy in the coming years.

Piper reached 2 years old last May meaning that she was able to get her hips evaluated by the OFA, her results were fabulous with a grading of Excellent (the highest grading), also completed her CKC FDJ title and her UKC show championship title. Piper has proven that she has what it takes in the hunting field by receiving top level scores and her FDJ title with the CKC, hunting is defiantly something that she was born to do. Piper started she show career this year with the UKC she not only competed her championship title in only 4 shows she also received one fourth in group placement at one of her shows.  Great job Piper! Piper has passed all her health checks, gotten a hunting title and a show title which means that she is ready for breeding. However due to personal reasons we may breed her next year but Piper may need to wait until the year after that to become a mom.

Ace had his first year of competition and received a Prize 1 in his NAVHDA NA test and completed his UKC show championship title amazing for only one year of competing. Ace was a superstar in his NAVHDA NA test showing that he has great natural hunting ability like a true Braque Francais type Pyrenees.  Also this year Ace started his show career and blew the competition away by taking 2 fourth in group placements at only his 3rd and 4th shows.  With two titles behind him this year already Ace is clearly awesome at competition, what is in store for Ace next year? We are unsure however we do know that Ace will be great at it.
