Summer Fun

This summer we have been so busy having fun and competing with our dogs that somehow the summer is already over. We are keeping the dogs busy with training and trialing in showing, agility and hunting. All the dogs attended a UKC dog show with great results, Ivy entered her first UKI trial with great results. Piper has finished her first hunting title and Ace attended his first hunting test with NAVHDA. Always in the summer there is so much to do and little time to do it in however the dogs still managed to find some time to play and relax in the yard.

Ivy entered her fist UKI trial and got two qualify scores her first time out.  Even with a big break to have puppies Ivy still reminds us of the superstar that she is in the agility ring. We have also been working on Ivy's hunting training hopefully Ivy will start her hunting testing soon. Way to go Ivy, you truly are a performer at heart.

Piper finished her FDJ (Field Dog Junior) title with the CKC at the start of the summer, meaning it is time to move her to the next level.  Piper now needs to learn to retrieve on command and be steady with the birds in order to advance.  We have been training Piper on these things and thus far she has been reluctant however we will continue to put the time into her to get her retrieving and steady. We are also continuing with Piper's agility training and hopefully will get her in first trial. At the UKC dog show this year Piper continued to show us what the superstar that she is by placing fourth in group. Piper clearly likes ribbons and wont let other dogs stand in her way to get them.

Ace being the youngest in the pack is still in the learning stages of his training however he is doing great.  After his first exposure to birds he has found the joys in hunting and he did his first flash point last time we had him out.  Ace also completed his first hunting test this year with NAVHDA, he received a score of 108 and a prize 1. We could not have asked for a better result from him.  At the the UKC show Ace took best of breed at his very first dog show. Looks like we have another superstar in the making.
