The start of the summer is finally here and the fun has started full force at Safron kennels, with agility and hunting events almost every weekend. Ivy and Piper have been very busy; Ivy has attended two agility competitions with great success already getting a Q. Piper has taken a hunting test, which she was, a superstar at as well as turned one year old this past month. The girls have defiantly been enjoying the summer so far look at the smiling face below:
Happy Birthday Piper!!!! Piper turned one year old on May 3, 2015 and she of course got a party (don’t remember if I mentioned but Ivy also had a birthday party last month in April when she turned 4). Fun was had by all the dogs except Ivy thought that there wasn’t enough cake. Below you can see pictures of Piper’s birthday party filled with cake and presents. Also Happy Birthday to all of Piper’s litter mates (Ivy’s sons and daughters) from last year who also turned one (Aimee, Belle, Brooklyn, Buddy, Dixie, Hatley and Moby).
Ivy has attended two agility competitions last month she was great and full of energy at both events. At the first trial she received a Q in gamblers meaning that she and my husband were able to complete the course clean and in the allotted time. A great accomplishment for the first time out ever below see a photo of their ribbon:
At the second trial she didn’t get a Q however she and my husband still had some great runs. Below see some pictures, taken by our friend, of Ivy running like the superstar that she is at the second trial. We are looking forward to more agility competitions this summer and more Q’s to come. GO IVY GO!
Piper has been very active this month as well completing her natural abilities puppy test for N.A.V.D.A. Piper did a great job getting top scores in the field and tracking portion of the test with excellent points. However although she went in the water she decided that she wasn’t going to go swimming so she didn’t’ get a prize. That being said we are very pleased of how well she did at the test, below see pictures of Piper taking her natural abilities test. We will work hard with Piper in the water and continue to train her and get her ready for more hunting tests and competitions in the future. She is off to a great start.
While Piper was doing her test though she ran into the bushrow and got snagged by a barb wire fence cutting her back. We took her to the vet where she got 5 stitches however she pulled those out the next day. We then took her back to the vet where she got a soft cone and her cut got stapled however she managed to pull those out as well the next day. She went back to the vet for a third time where she got a hard cone and re-stapled. So far so good Piper has been unable to pull out her third set of stitches. Get well soon Piper, below take a look at Piper’s injury and her wearing the cone of shame.
