It is almost time, Ivy's due date is this weekend and the excitement is building. Ivy has expanded in the past week, she is very big, and is finding it hard to get comfortable. The puppies are also being more active sometimes they feel like they are playing soccer inside her. During her pregnancy Ivy has put a lot of weight, as seen in the pictures below. On the left is Ivy before she was pregnant with a nice slim and trim topline and tuckup. On the right is a current photo of Ivy no more tuckup just one very large belly.

                             Ivy Now

Although Ivy has a very big belly that has not dampened her spirits she still finds plenty of time to be active and play. Below you can see her playing with a new toy that we recently got her, which suddenly has become one of her favorites. There are still puppies available from this litter if you are interested, have any questions or would just like to learn more about the Braque Francais please contact us we would love to hear from you.

We are encouraging everyone to share the Braque Francais will others please print off our brochure, which is filled with wonderful information about these lovely dogs and help get the breed more known, to download click here.

Last weekend we went to the All About Show at the International Centre and it was a big success. Ivy was a very good girl while she was there greeting everyone with an excited Braque Francais hello, a smile and a kissy on the face (not everyone was on board with that :)). We were able to reach a lot of people and educate them about this wonderful breed. We would like to thank everyone who came out the show and met us and Ivy, we hope that you learned a lot about the wonderful Braque Francais and saw what a great dog they are.

Ivy's pregnancy is going very well she continues to put on weight, is eating well and the puppies are now big enough that you can feel them moving around inside of her. However everyday she is getting more uncomfortable and has a hard time getting comfy on the couch. She still has about 1-2 weeks to go the puppies are due at the beginning of May and we are very excited for their arrival. Until then though all Ivy will be doing is resting as comfortably as she can at home, so that she can build up her energy as much as possible in a stress free environment. There are still puppies available from this litter if you are interested, have any questions or would just like to learn more about the Braque Francais please contact us we would love to hear from you.

Spring is just around the corner...according to the weather man, even through it did snow here in Canada yesterday. However the snow is mostly gone and the birds are starting to come back which makes a Braque Francais very happy. Ivy has started to notice that the birds are back because she is far more alert and pointing at everything she can find. Last week she notice that there were swans swimming in the pond at the park and thought it might be a good idea to go in after them.

In the past week Ivy has put on a lot of weight, this is good because it means that the puppies are growing normally. The pictures below are of what Ivy looks like now as you can see she no longer has a clear tuck-up just a very large belly hanging down to her knees. Those puppies must be getting very big and Ivy still has 2 weeks to go.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY IVY! :) this past week it was Ivy's birthday, on April 6 Ivy turned 3 years old she got extra cookies and attention all day long in celebration. It is the very least we can do for her because she has brought so much joy and happiness into our lives over the past 3 years. Ivy has been very happy and health all year long and we hope for the same in the following years to come.

This week at Safron Kennels we have been focusing on Ivy's pregnancy she is due in less than a month and is starting to show. Ivy's appetite has increased dramatically she now eats 3-4 times a day, which turns out to be about 3-4 cups, a mixture of puppy, adult and canned food per day. We are switching Ivy to puppy food because she will start producing more of what the puppies need for when they are developing and when they are born. Her belly has also increased in size a lot in the past week and she still has 3 weeks to go. We will of course keep everyone posted on how Ivy's pregnancy is progressing, we still have puppies available for this litter please contact us if you are interested.

We are also very excited for the All About Pets Show at the International Centre in Mississauga from April 18-20. We will be booth 827 and encourage everyone to come out to meet us, a very pregnant Ivy and to have fun.

Ivy's pregnant! This week we went to the vet to have her ultrasound done and they were able to confirm her pregnancy. The ultrasound confirmed that Ivy is carrying at least 5 or 6 puppies and there is more likely more because the puppies move around so much they tend to miss seeing some. The vet said that the puppies are about 30 days along and they should be born between May 2nd and May 4th; below are some photos of Ivy's ultrasound.
